Final First Friday of the Season!

Ya heard right! Now come show off those singing chops of yours as we collaborate with fellow neighbors and friends from Adams Morgan’s Sing-A-Long Jam!!

Bring your instruments, bring your vocal pipes and dancing shoes to cap off the night!

Here’s whats going down:

*please note there are multiple locations and times of various events*

5pm-9pm // As always Fia's Fabulous Finds will have her complimentary margaritas while you shop, Bad A$$ Vintage from Craze Chameleon Studio will be on site and dance to the pulsating tunes of DJ Rita B! Save 25% off all Fia's merchandise. VIP Pink Bag Holders save 30% off when you present your bag

6pm-7pm & 7pm-8pm // Petworth Fitness is having their First Friday Community Fitness Class for FREE. If you have ever wanted to check out the space, the workouts and this amazing community, here's your chance and there's two times to choose from!

8pm-10pm // We are ending the night at Petworth Fitness with the popular Adams Morgan DC's Sing-A-Long! Below are the details:

In these trying times, there's nothing more heartwarming-slash-cathartic than getting together with some acoustic guitars and tambourines and screaming at the top of our lungs, what's going on. (And I say heeyyy, yeah, yeah, yeah.)

Join the rousing ruckus Friday Oct. 4 as the D.C. Sing-Along comes to Petworth First Fridays, 8PM-10PM at Petworth Fitness.

Here’s how it works:

*Musicians bring acoustic instruments (guitar, harmonica, fiddle/violin, ukulele), keyboards, hand-drums/percussion, etc.

*Everyone brings voices.

*Songbooks are provided, including chords for the musicians.

*People call out songs, and we all play and sing together.

*Musical ability is emphatically NOT required. Nobody will be able to hear you sing, so don’t feel self-conscious!

*Songbook songs only; no jams, half-remembered songs, or other musician self-indulgence.

* Songs range from ‘60s faves to Frozen to a heavy dose of ‘90s classics. Kids are welcome, as long as you’re cool with them being around some profanity and they’re cool with not getting to sing “Wheels on the Bus” for the 400th time.

Hope to see you there!

We look forward to ending our First Friday season with you all on October 4th! See you soon DC!

First Friday-Red, White, Blue and X

“Are you free in America?” is an exhibition centered around our ideas of freedom. Through a series of 3 interactions, we invite the community to create a collective response.

Curated by Jason Biehl and Maps Glover

About Maps Glover:

Maps Glover is the first artist-in-residence of 2019 in the A Creative DC: Brookland workspace. He creates work inspired by human behavior and observation, and pervasive social issues. He visualizes how time affects behavior, and how observation of behavior alters perspective. He constructs portals in which the characters he creates exist and experience the world around them, often in ways that seem unnatural to the viewer. Maps has created and performed work at Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, Smithsonian Arts & Industries Building, Transformer DC, and more.

About Jason Biehl:

Jason W. Biehl is a history teacher and D.C. native, who has been working directly with youth since 2001. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, his recent experiences include teaching at Capital City Public Charter School, GED instruction at Latin American Youth Center, and anti-racism organizing for Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ DC). In 2017, he founded Change the Narrative, facilitating workshops on race, whiteness and equity for predominantly white students, parents and teachers in the DC area.
