Hello Petworth Neighbors!
The Petworth Arts Collaborative is gearing up for the 2019 season of Arts and Community. This year we are making First Fridays seasonal (May through October). Free outdoor summer dance concerts will make an appearance once again and the Dia de los Muertos celebration will return for it’s 3rd year in Petworth.
Petworth Arts Collaborative is an all volunteer group that includes neighbors, artists and small business owners. We are seeking enthusiastic, community driven, creatives to lend a hand in this year’s events. We are hosting a neighborhood kick-off meeting to talk about volunteer and showcasing opportunities on Thursday March 21st from 7:00pm-8:30pm at Art of Noize newest location-821 Upshur Street NW.
This year we have collaborated with additional organizations and artists for First Fridays beginning with Petworth resident, Kirth Bobb, curating a Community Photo Project in collaboration with Petworth Fitness/Crossfit Petworth and The Community Collective, Opera in the Park at Lincoln’s Cottage with In Series-Opera and More!, DC born and raised Petworth resident Jason Biehl curating a powerful program exploring the concept of Freedom and America, Stop Motion DC with live projections, wheat pasting and more, an impactful collaboration with The Prison Arts Coalition and Voices Unbarred showcasing work, performance and visual art, by incarcerated individuals and returning citizens and last but not least a Light and Art Installation made from recycled materials-A Community Effort! And we didn’t even include all the fun coming from the summer dance concert and Dia de los Muertos! But did we need to? I bet we had you at Kirth Bobb!
